Mahler 3 in King's College Chapel
Last night the Ladies and Choristers of the choir took part in a spectacular performance of Gustav Mahler's 3rd Symphony in King's College Chapel. Paul Daniel conducted a combined Cambridge University Music Society orchestra, along with the Ladies of the choirs of Jesus, Clare, Caius and Selwyn colleges, and the Choristers of Jesus and St. Catharine's Colleges. The performance was a resounding success, and the singers relished the chance to perform one of the most distinguished symphonic works in the repertoire.

Farewell to Mark Williams, Director of Music
As the Combined Choirs return from a successful and highly enjoyable tour to Italy, it is time to say goodbye to our Director of Music, Mark Williams. After studying as organ scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge, he secured the prestigious role of Assistant Organist at St Paul's Cathedral, London, in 2000. He joined Jesus College as in 2009, and has led the choir with great expertise and enthusiasm both in the UK and abroad.Under his leadership, the choir has performed many of the great works in the choral repertoire, including Bach's St Matthew and St. John Passions and Handel's Nelson Mass, culminating with a performance this term of Elgar's Dream of Gerontius in collaboration with three other Cambridge choirs. The choir has travelled to India, Sri Lanka, the USA, Switzerland, Germany, Hong Kong and China among other places, and has participated in charity work providing singing workshops to disadvantaged children. At home, the choirs have performed concerts all around the UK, and have recorded six CDs, the last of which will be released in early 2017. Most of all, under Mark's directorship, singing in the choir has always been thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable for choral scholars and choristers alike - and the whole Jesus College Chapel and Choir community would like to thank him for the tireless work that he has put in, and wish him the best of luck in his next role as Informator Choristarum at Magdalen College, Oxford. Mark will be succeeded at Jesus by Richard Pinel at the start of 2017 - we are all looking forward to it!
