Verdi's Otello with Richard Farnes in King's College Chapel

The mixed choir joined forces with the choirs of Trinity and Selwyn Colleges, and the University Chamber Choir for an exciting performance of the first act of Verdi's Otello. Cambridge University Musical Society Symphony and Chamber Orchestras accompanied the choirs, and also played Rachmaninov's Isle of the Dead, and Debussy's La Mer. The mixed choir especially enjoyed working with the fantastic soloists and conductor, and getting into character as desperate mariners, victorious soldiers, and joyous Cypriots, while singing this dramatic music.

Mixed Choir tour to Toulon, France

The mixed choir goes on tour to Toulon, France to give a concert of sacred music for Advent and Christmas. Performing in the beautiful Eglise St Paul du Mourillon, the choir's programme includes music by Mendelssohn, Bach, Poulenc, and Pärt. Despite the early start (3.55am!) the tour looks as if it will be a very successful trip, and the choir looks forward to sampling the local culture and atmosphere as well as giving their concert.

Joint evensong with the Choir of Derby High School

On 24 November we’ll sing evensong with the Choir of Derby High School. The music includes Stanford’s evergreen Canticles in C major, and Fauré’s tranquil Cantique de Jean Racine. Collaborations like this are an important part of Jesus College Choir’s outreach work, and we’re very pleased to invite our visitors for a buffet supper after the service!
